Natural elegance above the city, with a “Quiet Luxury” feel
There is a moment when you step into an apartment, catch sight of the panorama, and words fail you. There is no point competing with a natural gift like that, so in this project we never tried. Instead, we asked how such an open, light-filled space could be furnished so that in the evening, when the city lights take over, the home wraps you in a safe, embracing atmosphere.
The living room, where time slows down
We deliberately avoided a sterile, “museum-like” effect, softening the modern lines with warmer, more homely elements. In the living room we played consciously with a mix of styles: the clean, off-white sofa was joined by Mid-Century-inspired armchairs with wooden armrests. One of my favourite details of this project is the fine balance held between the bustle outside and the peace within. In the dining area, the solid wood table and woven chairs bring a hint of holiday-house ease into the space, while the abstract paintings on the wall remind us: this is a twenty-first-century city home through and through.
Kitchen: bold shades in focus
The era of play-it-safe white kitchens is slowly fading, and in this space we dared to dream big. The cabinetry received a characterful, deep forest green. It may seem a bold choice at first, but paired with brass accessories the result is remarkably elegant. The true focus of the space, however, is the kitchen island. We designed not a simple worktop but a genuine piece of furniture. The curved, fluted wood cladding lends texture and rhythm to the space, while the travertine-effect counter is patterned just enough not to feel cold, yet never overpowers the green fronts.
Bedroom: a sanctuary of calm
In the bedroom we wanted to create that uncompromising “hotel experience” — the feeling of stepping into a premium hotel room and sensing at once that everything here is tuned for complete rest. The focal point is again the fluted wood panelling, this time in a calming green, visually embracing the bed. With floating bedside tables we cheated a little on the sense of space, preserving the room’s airiness. On textiles, though, we did not hold back: the soft bench at the foot of the bed, the layered throws and the warm-toned reading lamps make this the most intimate, most cocooning corner of the home.
Bathroom: private wellness above the hills
We arranged the bathroom so that its most prominent element would be the freestanding bath placed before the floor-to-ceiling window. Bathing becomes a true experience here, while outside the sun slowly sets behind the hills. The coherence of the design is unmistakable: the apartment’s leitmotif, the textured deep green wall finish, returns in the shower. The surface makes a superb contrast with the lightness of the glass wall and the matt gold fittings. The double basin sits on a long, floating wooden counter, visually stretching the space further. In the evening the large, backlit round mirror fills the room with a magical, soft glow, grounded by the natural warmth of the travertine-style tiling.
The result
This project is perfect proof that there is no need to fear characterful colours and strong textures. The warmth of wood and the depth of green form a timeless combination that will hold its own for years to come. Designing it was a genuine pleasure from the first minute to the last — we hope the atmosphere carries through the photographs as well.
